Join Mecca Perry: Artist-CHWs—The New Care Workforce

I’m honored to join the Healing Arts Chicago Summit as a panelist for Artist-CHWs: The New Care Workforce, a conversation about the growing role of artists trained as community health workers.

This two-part session begins with research highlighting the first two years of Healing Arts Chicago, followed by a panel exploring how artist-community health workers bring their creative practices into health and community settings—and what it takes to support and sustain this work.

Drawing on my experience offering sound meditation in Chicago’s public mental health clinics through Healing Arts Chicago, I’ll share a practitioner’s perspective on bringing sound, listening, and opportunities for reflection into community care.

Together, we’ll explore what artists contribute to the care workforce, how organizations can integrate these roles, and why continued investment matters.
