There are two wings to our practice – wisdom and compassion. If we only exercise one wing, we cannot fly. Of course, to do this skillfully we must keep the wing of wisdom and equanimity-towards-all working simultaneously.

This session, we’ll explore how the Mandala of Socially Engaged Buddhism can serve as a framework for Engaged Buddhism. We’ll reflect on what it means to engage in these ways toward ourselves, toward others, within the organizational structures we participate in, and as principles that shape our wider societal involvement. How do these levels of engagement support one another and inter‑relate?

The framework we’ll be drawing from is outlined in the document Cynthia shared last session.

As always, there will be plenty of space for personal check‑ins and for sharing what is arising in each of our own areas of engagement.
